  1. Well, it all depends on what type of antenna you are talking about, how high it is mounted, what direction it is pointed and what type signal are you referring to (analog or digital).

  2. After February 17, 2009, you will need a converter box to receive the TV signal, otherwise all you will get is snow.

Every household is entitled to two coupons for $40.00 to help buy these boxes. They will probably cost about $60.00.

This will not make your old TV HD, it will just make it work like it did before. To receive HD, you need a HD TV, then you don't need the box. To apply for the coupons, you can use this website:  https://www.dtv2009.gov/

  3. The best thing to do is go to http://www.antennaweb.org.  Put in your ZIP code and you will get a list of the free Over The Air stations in your area.  It will also give you guidance on what antenna you should be using and where to aim it.  It's a really good resource.

If your TV does not have a digital tuner (called an ATSC tuner), you will need a converter box or an upgrade to a newer TV with a digital tuner.  The US government is giving out $40 coupons to help defray the cost of the converter boxes.  You can apply for no more than two at http://www.dtv2009.gov .

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  4. Do you have the analog to digital converter box ?

Is your television "digital ready" with the converter built in ?

First you would have to scan the stations into the tv and then adjust your antenna for the best reception .
