I have one amp for my 4 speakers and 1 amp for my sub. I'm not sure how to connect the two together to get them working as they should. Basically, how do I connect the two amps together ?

  1. i think what you are asking is can you make 2 amps push 1 speaker... the answer is yes... and it is actually very simple... all you have to do is get a speaker with a DVC (dual voice coil) on this speaker there will actually be 2 inputs on the back... so run your 2 amps separately give them both the same signal and hook 'em up.... enjoy

  2. First you need to make sure that you have the right gauge wire for the amps. Depending on the power will depend on the guage. Most of the time a 4 guage will do the job unless you have high power amps and you will need larger. You will need to get a distribution block to split the power wire back by the amps. Also you will want to get 3 sets of RCA's. Front, rear, and sub. This way you can still have full control over your system, this is only if your radio has 3 sets of preouts. Then just run your rca's and remote wire down one side of the vehicle and your power wire down the other. Never on the same side. The power wire goes into the dblock and then you will run wires out of the dblock to each amp. Then hook up your rca's, speaker wires, ground the amps and there you go. hope this helps you.

  3. Above is partially correct,

You can, if wired well, run the two amps together in parallel, however, I wouldn't because the current draw would be excessively high, and you'd need a cap (preferably for both amps)

You will want to split the signal wires unless your deck has a "sub out" connection.  (preferred)  which is basically hooking each plug on the line out from the stereo, to a small Y plug, and sending 1 end of each Y to the proper inputs on both amps.  This will work fine, and in my opinion, is much better than splicing into your speaker wires, and reducing line level conversion distortion.

Guy below got my vote for best answer!

  4. You do not hook the amps together. You should run power, signal and ground wires individually to each amp. i would hope your deck and pre-amp outputs, those are usually used for your sub. some decks have enough pre-amp outputs to run main speakers as well, if not run your regular speaker wires to amp for regular speakers.
