How do I use windows live messenger to talk to someone on xbox live?

I want to be able to talk to a friend through my computer, and his xbox live. Is there any way that we can talk to eachother this way? We both have michrophones, but I can't figure out how to call him through it.

  1. It is possible to do this(only typing though). You have to add him to your contact list on Windows Messenger on your computer though and it must be the account associated with your xbox live account.

    Currently you cannot communicated via computer headset with a friend playing box(vice-versa). However it isn't impossible and if microsoft wanted to do it they could within a week(most likely). This is because they have already perfected cross platforming for specific games(games for windows) and allow communication between a gamer on a computer and a gamer on 360. Shadowrun allows cross-platform communication(once again, 360-computer).

    I haven't checked recently but you might be able to do this if you have the gaming for windows app. set up on your computer.


  2. do you have him as a friend? if you do, forget messenger, invite him to a private chat or get in a lobby with him in some online game like halo 3 or COD4
