How do I view a .dat file?

I have PC Guard and i forgot my password. I learnt there is a file called Freedom.dat which contains password info but i don't know how to view it. I know where the file is i can't access it though.

Right click on the file and select "Open with".

Select Notepad from the available programs.

You may find there is no readable text though.

.dat files are system files.  You can't access them directly; they're not text.
