I am 15 years old. I want to volunteer at my local hospital over the summer. (Such as reading to children, etc.) How would I get information or sign up for that? Do i call volunteer services?

  1. Go tell your preacher or the Chaplin @ the hospital exactly what you want.

  2. You have the right idea.  Stop by the hospital and find the Volunteer Services Dept. Ask them for a teen application which will ask you a lot of unnecessary questions (the application I saw asked for the date of your last menstruation, not sure why!) and you will need references. After all, you will be exposed to a lot of HIPAA-protected patient information so they need to make sure you're trustworthy.

They may have a minimum of hours that they'd prefer (or even require) you to work per week. Lastly, keep in mind which department of the hospital you'd like to do your volunteer work in- they usually give you a choice.

  3. you could  try  contacting your local hospital and tell them your interesting in volunteering and ask them who's in charge and they could put in contact with them. I really admire  you particular at your age wanting to do this have fun  and good luck.
