How do I wash these items very delicatly?

I have a VERY old bear and Knitted blanket, and I want to wash them. I'm nervous about washing them because they are so old, and I dont want anything to happen such as shrink. Is there a more gentle way to wash them OTHER than just throwing them in the washer??

P.s

Would they be ok together in the wash??

You fill the sink up with warm water and use gentle detergent using your hands.

I would wash them by hand, in cool water with just a couple of drops of Woolite.  Then squeeze them carefully to remove water, and lay them on a thick towel to air dry--turning every couple of hours and changing the towel if needed.
