How do I watch a movie from laptop on Flat screen tv?

I have a movie I made for school that I want to show my family and I know you can hook your laptop to your flat screen tv, I just dont know what cables or cable you need to connect both, my laptop has a blue port for a screen with holes and so does my tv, both have the same port.

the absolute easiest way is to connect an s video cable to both of them.

You can get these at wal-mart. for as low as 7  bucks
