  1. Great idea and your dog will be a lot healthier and live a nice long life!

You have to gradually cut back and then stand your ground. So when you go to feed her put half as much wet food in with the dry and mix, mix, mix! Otherwise she'll try to l**k all the wet off the dry. Then when you are down to just a tablespoon of wet or so, you just stop with the wet and put down the dry. If she ignores it, don't worry, she won't for long. Dogs will not starve themselves they just try to get their way. I've fed my dogs dry for years now and they've all been happy and healthy. My Bichon lived to 17 and he was a happy and exercised everyday!!

    Good Luck~

  2. Simonne is correct in the method--reducing the amount of canned slowly.  Please consider the brand of dry food you switch your dog to.  Most cheap foods (and this includes Purina) are mostly corn.  Dogs cannot digest corn and it simply goes right through them giving NO NUTRITION at all.  It will cost a bit more to feed a quality food but your dog will live a longer and healthier life and you will pay fewer vet bills in the long run.

I feed Nutro Lamb and Rice.  It runs about $1 a pound and can be purchased at Rural King Supply here in Illinois.

  3. Start off mixing canned with dry, then slowly use less and less of the canned.

  4. mix a little bit of can to dry each day or every time you feed her and slowly use less ans less each time of the can she will eat the dry then again if shes an older dog the hard might be to hard for her to chew...try using a moist food insted of cans.........

  5. Mix the wet food and the dry food together, and add a some warm water to make a nice gravy, slowly take away the wet food. Personally I would keep the wet food to give the dog some variety in her life, but you don't have to give a whole can at a time, just mix in a little bit to give some flavor.
