I have a tennis match against someone I always come close to but never beat tomorrow morning. He has a weak serve and backhand but a good forhand and is a very quick mover. Any help!

  1. Give him moonballs. I always do that to a player who has the same qualities as your opponent. I always end up the smiling player when he starts overhitting. It might work. Good luck

  2. Three things that generally work for me (used sparingly)

    1. Slam second serves hard and deep to his backhand.

    2. Give him a difficult approach shot and then aim for his feet while he's running in.

    3. Work the ball far to one side, make it look like you're going to slam it to the opposite corner after his return, then catch him off balance and hit it right back to where you just hit it.

  3. I am not sure what your game is like but if you can step in and pound the return to his backhand side you should win some free points.

In my experience quick movers are usually good moving side to side but not always forward and back so the dropshot is usually an effective play. I am not sure exactly how weak his serve is but if you can slice the return from time to time and hit a drop shot (most likely to his backhand) as he moves in and open up the court you have a whole host of options. You can lob or force him to hit a backhand volley.

The combination of the aggressive (pounding the return to his backhand) and the finesse (hitting the dropshot) is sure to confuse your opponent and disrupt his rhythm.

Another thing that is effective against speedy players is using short angles to pull them off court. As they scarmble to get back to cover the open court you can hit behind them.

If you've come close in the past it means you are doing some things right. Think back at the plays you've won in the past and try to make it a point to do more of it. More than anything, believe in your game. Good Luck

  4. Blast every service return to his backhand. Be agressive on returns, and focus on holding your own serve. If you can break down his backhand, theres bound to be an opening to break his serve. Also, don't do for lines to hit outright winners. You want a good, topspinny shot with margin for error.

  5. You're gunna have to keep him near the baseline and keep it towards his backhand.  If/when you get up to the net, make sure you get some crazy angles and he (unless he's superman) won't be able to get to those.  Also, when you're at the net, try hitting it towards his feet.  Depending on how good he is, he'll probably just lob it up for you get some pretty nice revenge.

    anywas, good luck!

  6. Rafa will win !

  7. hit his serve to his backhand. try playing net, lobbing it, or just all out groundstroke. if none of those games works...just get it in play until he misses

  8. attack his serve. get it deep to his backhand and work from there. just play smart and try to keep your harder and more powerful shots away from his forehand.

  9. It seems you've already answered your own question.  He has a weak backhand and serve.  So if you put the two together, you return his weak serve to his already weak backhand to force him to return the ball even weaker.  From there, you hit an aggressive shot to his backhand and approach and then put it away.  Also, if he has weak volleys you might want to hit a short ball to his backhand and hit a passing shot or lob it over him.  good luck in your match!
