I want to get my computer to its original state when I bought it but I don't know how to do this. My computer is a Toshiba and its a two-year old laptop. I don't have any CD's that I was given when I bought the laptop I just remember it already having Windows. I'm guessing it was already in my hard drive. I have Windows XP Professional. How to I re-install Windows if I don't have any CD's?

  1. You cant without the disc.

  2. It is called system restore.

anyway, you can wipe back by using the windows repair console.

To wipe the HD, use dariks boot and nuke. type in dariks boot, and windows repair console into any search engine.

  3. No way to do it.  The laptop MIGHT have a feature to reset it to factory settings.  Check your owners manual.

As someone else answered, you can borrow a Windows CD and reinstall it, but you still have to reinstall all your programs.

  4. I have a program guaranteed to wipe your hardrive

  5. You cannot reinstall without the cd but as long as you have the licence key (should be on a label on the base of the laptop) you can just borrow one if you know somebody or, if not, ask a friendly local computer shop if they will make you a copy.  Just remember that without the original restore cd you will have to reinstall any programs you need so make sure if any of them need licences or registation details that you make a note of them as well as backing up your data.

  6. once u turn on keep pressing f11 on your keyboard untill propted to do a full system restore.will take bout 10 mins then after it will start up with everything it was origonally installed with.even if you deleted it previously
