How do I work out my Latitude, longitude coordinates?

Hi,

I live in Poole, Dorset, England. I have been asked by my tutor to add my coordinates to the school intranet (-2.0282, 50.7160) however when i put the coordinates in he said they were not accurate and he needs to make sure i know how i do it. Help me i have know idea what he means!!!

Do not know where in Poole do You live. But I can give you an example: The center of the Poole Footbal Stadium has the coordinates

50*43´22,5´´ N and 1* 58´55,5´´ W.

Find your house on www.googleearth.com and in the lower left corner you will find what you were looking for. Another way is to buy a good map of your area (I recommend 1 : 25000) and do the same. The coordinates on such a map are only 1´ apart.
