  1. get a sliding bevel (cheap handy tool to have anyway about 10eur) set to the angle between where your fascia meets the gable-box (this is the lowest point on your gable wall where the angled fascia meets the rectangular box in the corner outside) or also you can get in the attic and set the bevel to the angle where the ridgeboard meets the rafter (apex level) when the bevel is set tighten the wingnut and read the angle with a protractor. this will give quite an accurate reading.

  2. If you have an 'Adjustable Bevel' you can set it at the angle your shed is at and check it against a Protractor (Semi-Circular, used in school).  If you don't have one of these, you can use two pieces of timber(12" Long X 1" X 1") , screwed together, fairly tightly "you don't want it to move once the angle is set".  Go inside your shed, hold your pivotable piece of timber, Vertically down one wall and the other along the ceiling of the shed, this should give you the required angle, lock it tight by s******g the s***w (give it an extra tweak, making sure it doesn't move whilst doing so) then check the angle against your protractor.  Email me at admin@dothekaraoke.com if you get stuck

  3. inverse tangent of (rise/run)

  4. here is a site for ya

just put in the pitch and it will give you the degrees

  5. carpenters dont use degrees they use a ratiocalled a blank in blank. Take a level and mark off one foot. Now put one end of the level on the roof and hold it up until you see the bubble show level. Now take a ruler and measure the distance between the raised end of the one foot measure and the roof. thats the pitch. it may be 6 ,7,8,,,,9 inche . Then you have a 6 in 12  or a 9 in 12  pitch. Understand??
