If I titrated 8.8ml of 0.112M HCL into 20ml sodium carbonate how do I figure out the molarity of the sodium carbonate and the concentration of the sodium carbonate solution (gm/L)?

  1. 2HCl + Na2CO3 --> 2NaCl +H20 + CO2

    mols of HCl reacting = 0.112(0.0088) = 0.0009856 mols

    mols of Na2CO3 reacting = 0.5(0.0009856) = 0.0004928 mols

    molarity of solution = 0.0004928/0.02 = 0.02464 M

    MW of Na2CO3 = 23(2) + 12 + 3(16) = 106

    concentration = 0.02464(106)=2.612 g/L
