How do I write a personal response to a book?

I need to write a one paged personal response to the work, but I don't know how to, I begin writing a summary instead of a response, also i dont want to use "I" too many times, I think its too informal...how do I write it??

If it's supposed to be a personal response, A few 'I"s are acceptible.
