How do I write the beginning of a story?

There are two good ways to hook a reader. Start right in the middle of action, or a very interesting character.

Start your story at it's natural beginning. Don't do a fluff week or so to "get to know the MC," or anything like that. Start very close to the catlyst, what makes the conflict of the main plot arise.

You to catch the readers attention, Make them WANT to read it! Then just Continue.

I used to have this same problem. I looked at beginning after beginning of books, but I still didn't get it. Then I finally came to a conclusion that worked. I just started it. Don't question what you're doing. Just do it, and if you don't like it you can change it later.
