  1. There are two good ways to hook a reader. Start right in the middle of action, or a very interesting character.

    Start your story at it's natural beginning. Don't do a fluff week or so to "get to know the MC," or anything like that. Start very close to the catlyst, what makes the conflict of the main plot arise.

  4. I used to have this same problem. I looked at beginning after beginning of books, but I still didn't get it. Then I finally came to a conclusion that worked. I just started it. Don't question what you're doing. Just do it, and if you don't like it you can change it later.
