How do MBTA train fares and zones work? Im trying to figure out how much it would cost if i wanted to travel from....for example....attleboro to providence. Im not sure how the zone system works, and I dont know how much it would cost as a result.

  1. Most readers don't know you are talking about trains near Boston, you should have mentioned that.

    This site explains zones.

    this one lists what stops are in what zones.

    You pick the highest zone you want to reach, in this case 8, and buy a ticket for that zone.

  3. it is all based on the charlie card or ticket you have to have one to ride the t the card is like a credit card you have to keep money on it at all times a ticket can be a weekly or monthly but the cards are better bus fares are $1.25 includes trackless trolleys trains and trolley cars $1.75 commuter rail $7.50 each way for more information go in to www.mbta.com
