  1. The winner from each division plus who ever wins the wildcard. The best division winner plays each other & the other two division winners play each other. Then the winners of those two seriues play each other. Then the winner of that goes into the World Series.

  2. 4 from each

the three division winners and a wild card

  3. Winner of each division (3) plus the team with the best record not winning their division (1) from each league.  8 teams total -- 4 from each league.

  4. 4

  5. Conference winner 4 from each

the three division winners and a wild card

  6. Four teams from each league get playoff berths. The three division champions (from the East, Central and West divisions) and a wild card, which is the team with the best record in its league that didn't win a division.

The wild card plays the division winner with the best record, unless the No. 1 division winner and the wild card team are from the same division. (Example: If the Tampa Bay Rays win the AL East, they could not play the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the playoffs.) Instead, the wild card would play the team with the second-best record in its league.
