I'm not trying to pick a fight here but Id like to know. Have tax breaks to large corporations and the hope it will trickle down to the normal folk worked over the past 8 years? I don't work for a large corp.. How on earth would this help me? Why are these same large corp's sending jobs overseas? Why are republicans so up in arms about Obama raising taxes for the most wealthy and giving tax breaks to those who need it?

Please don't answer this question with another question or comment you have about Obama.. Please just give me an educated response

  1. to answer you last question first. the wealthy already pay the lions share of taxes in this country. the top

    Top 1%

    $388,806

    39.89

    Top 5%

    $153,542

    60.14

    Top 10%

    $108,904

    70.79

    Top 25%

    $64,702

    86.27

    Top 50%

    $31,987

    97.01

    Bottom 50%

    <$31,987

    2.99

If you raise the top 1% 's taxes by $10, 000 a year that would equal rasising the people in the 32000-50000 a year bracket $22 a person. It sounds good to attack the Rich but the money really is'nt there.

as far as trickle down  it is very compliacted. what has taken place in the last 8 years has not been trickle down it has been a money grab for the oil related / milatary related companies

if done right the tax breaks give companies the money to develop new markets for new products and services that makes jobs which = people with money which spend money for what ever you do

  2. Giving more tax cuts to the rich and less to 95% of America only widens the gap between rich and poor. The reality is that poor people spend money because they have to. Rich people like to flaunt their wealth, so they save it in the bank and it does nothing to create jobs. Sure....the rich are creating jobs...in China and India! And then they stick us with the bill of running trillion dollar wars and pay for disaster relief.

We desperately need change in this country.

  3. America has the 2nd highest Corporation Tax rate in the world. Which amounts to almost 35% when you include State Taxes. This also accounts for jobs lost to countries with lower tax rates. Corporations are accountable to their stock holders and if we continue with these policies we will see more situations like Anheuser-Busch.

The Top 10 Percent of Income Earners Paid 70 Percent of Federal Income Tax

The U.S. tax system is highly progressive. The top 1 percent of income earners, by household, paid 39 percent of all federal income taxes in 2005, whereas the bottom 50 percent paid a little over 3 percent. Further, 32 percent of all tax returns filed in 2005 were from people who paid no federal income tax at all.

  4. Republicans are not concerned with the well-being of the people as a whole. They're only concerned about their own pockets.

  5. Tax breaks for large corporations do work to stimulate the economy and create jobs.  The main problem is that the cost of American labor far exceeds the benefit of a tax break thus corporations move overseas to be more profitable, so I would argue for greater tax breaks for corporations that remain in America. We are up in arms about raising taxes on the "wealthy" because the term "wealthy" is relative.  I would be considered wealthy compared to someone working minimum wage, and even those making much more than I do are not really that wealthy.  Look at Obama's overall tax scheme, it punishes those that have worked hard and made themselves sucessful and rewards those that haven't.  McCains tax plan is actually much better than Obama's since it is fair across the board, it puts more money into the middle class pockets than Obama's would and raises the level of the lower tax bracket.  Obama's plan to repeal the tax cuts enacted by Bush and then institute his tax levels actually increase taxes on the middle class.

  6. Tax breaks do work. Why? Because contrary to what is said by some, business owners (small business and large corporations) DO invest back in their business. Business owners risk everything to get into business so they can make money and/or fulfill a dream. That's how companies like IBM, Walmart, and D&B go from one or two man operations to large companies that employ thousands of people. Risk.

To grow their business, they have to hire people to work for them, buy more equipment, or pay advertising and other expenses. To do this, they have to make money. When the government takes money from business owners that they could have used to buy new equipment or hire new people, that really upsets them.

Say what you like, but people are NOT going to pay higher prices for products made in America simply because our gluttonous governement wants more money.

These businesses are not "sending jobs overseas"; many times they are being forced to move their businesses; because if they don't, they may be put out of business by our government's ever-increasing regulations and tax structure. When businesses are taxed more, it raises their cost of doing business and they have to raise the consumer's price at the register. This is not only bad for business, it raises your cost of living.

For instance, Sarbanes-Oxley did nothing but put regulations into place that cost businesses in America millions a year in compliance costs - when existing laws would have accomplished the same thing. Businesses were faced with a choice to either pay millions to compliance consultants or go to a country that would not force them to pay that cost. Moving would allow them to have millions more to grow their business. One note: this law did make for a very lucrative consulting business for former Senator Mr. Sarbanes (D-MD). So, even though it is killing American business, it helped him start a very nice business.

Republicans are up in arms about things like this because it does not help business, it does not help the job market, it does not help our economy, it does not help the consumer, it does not help America, and worst of all, it makes it harder for people who want to start their own business to do so.

Remember, the government does NOT produce anything, it is businesses (small and large) that create jobs and actually produce. The government only takes from those producers and is trying to take more and more -- justifying that THEY will spend it better.

Most of these "rich" people who everyone wants to "tax" more are just small business owners who bust their butts to make enough money to grow their business. And, most of these small businesses are LLCs or Scorps whose business profts are taxed at a personal level. So, when you raise taxes on "the rich" you are allowing them to keep less money to put back into their business and their livlihood. Now, they have to work even harder to succeed and support their family. These people do not live luxurious lives.

People who aren't wearing the business owner's shoes, usually don't think about the risks and costs that the owner continuously faces to keep the business running.

  7. I am not a McCain supporter but the answer to your question about raising taxes is answered in your question. Just as "trickle down" works to the good when taxes are lowered  They work to the bad when taxes are raised.

Corporations, (Whether or not you like them, they are here to stay)will pass on to the consumer the increase they are charged in higher taxes to the consumer. That means that you and me pay all those added corporate taxes at the ground level. Corporations basic nature are to at least minimally maintain (if not increase) profits to the shareholders. It's only common sense that in order to do this they would have to pass on the cost of higher taxes to the people who buy and sell their products........... That You and Me.

Politicians use emotions to sell themselves  to a public that doesnt think things through to the logical end.  Jealousy is a strong emotional tool. Some polititians like to pit different monetary classes, races and even religions against each other to gain votes. To me this is Shameless Politics, but mostly shame on Americans who dont realize they are being Duped. RAISING TAXES HURTS EVERYONE. Whether you are at the high or low end of the pay scale we all pay for increased taxes.  Obamas tax breaks would be great but are rendered  meaningless when the increase to big business are passed down to us little people with increased consumer prices.

I agree Tax breaks to those who need it is necessary . In order to gain a true tax break it must be given to everyone.

I dont want jobs going overseas but Americans dont work cheap.

  8. Large corporations are sending jobs overseas because it is cheaper, truly, they will work for pennies an hour. Here the lower-middle class has too high of expectations. They want to be able to work on an assembly line and have a 4 bedroom house and two HDTV's, that isn't the way it works.

People like this vote Obama because he lies to them and tells them he will make their life better by giving them a tax break of $1000. Taxes should be fair for everyone with a flat tax rate. If that does not provide enough money for our government then we should shrink it, it is that simple.

I am tired of people saying that our tax system is not fair then insisting on having the wealthy pay more than double the percentage of what they are paying

  9. Tax breaks for large corporations would actually work, if the money saved would be reinvested and new and better jobs created.

But that has not happened. All is has done is line the pockets of

the Executives of these enterprises. That is the problem folks.
