How do Nosler partition rounds work?

I use .243 Noslers for hunting and never knew how they really worked.

  1. The front expands just like any old hunting bullet, and in the center there's a partition. With the back part compartmentalized, it won't expand, perhaps, but it won't blow up, and the guaranteed weight retention of the rear half ensures penetration. More advanced designs have since become available, of course, but those of us who grew up with Partitions as the high-tech bullet still have a soft spot for it, and it still works just as well as ever.


  2. The only thing I can add is the advertisement; was the rear non-expanding half was the retained weight "driving force"....
