Question:

How do Republicans intend to pay off our massive debt when our nation's tax revenues are so low to begin with?

I keep hearing McCain complain that Barrack will raise ALL our taxes, but I don't hear anything about how he plans on reducing our nation's staggering amount of debt in his first 4 years of office.

From my understanding of taxes and tax revenue, the higher our taxes are, the more revenue they generate--the quicker our deficits go down in the long run.

I mean, Clinton raised taxes and we had one of the most prosperous years that I could recall. Where was the complaints then from the opposition that the higher taxes were hurting them in the pocketbook?

All I hear *now* is how higher taxes are BAD, but nobody seems to have any concrete plan on how to reduce our overall deficits.

But the way Bush has been spending our tax monies like a drunken sailor, is it ever a small wonder *why* we are in such a pickle right now?

  1. Tax revenues have been setting records since Bush's tax rate cuts. You don't live in the real world. Educate yourself by researching how throughout history when tax rates have been cut revenues increase. I agree that we should cut spending, but Pelosi's congress is setting records for earmark spending, so for you to blame Bush is laughable.

  3. Mondale said it best more than two decades ago when the Republicans came up with "borrow and spend" as a fiscal policy:

Q:  "How do you lower taxes, increase military spending, and reduce the national debt?"

    A:  "It's done with mirrors."
