How do Venus Flytraps work?

Just recently bought one;

and i really dont know what they do :/

The actual trapping mechanism is quite complicated.  However, they "work" just like most other plants, requiring sun for photosynthesis, and water and proper soil.

I don't know how, but when it senses something there, it goes SNAP! Stick a pen in there and watch it go, haha.
