  1. Well, my washer is a little high tech.

I first read all the tags of new clothing -- make sure it is okay to wash together, etc.

I put my clothes in the dryer. I have a whole rainbow of clothes; and although they say not to put darks and lights together, I believe it's okay after they have been washed separately at least twice.

I place them in the washer, turn the washer on for Normal. I put a cup and a quarter of detergent in the holder, as well as a cup and a half of softener. The water is cold.

My washer saves water -- it adjusts the water to as little is needed. It's great!

After 58 minutes, I put them in the dryer. But if it's something that might shrink, or if it's a quilt/sheets, I place them on the line to dry. When you line dry them, it makes the smell last three times as long.

  2. Here's how I sort and wash:

    * Whites (underwear and socks) - hot water with bleach

    * Whites (blouses, polo shirts, etc.) - warm water with non-chlorine bleach or Oxyclean

    * Red/pink/orange/tan/yellow - cold

    * Blue/black/green/purple - cold

The reason I put tan/yellow with the reds is that if the red fibers transfer, it's not so noticeable on tan or yellow.  And with reds, before washing for the first time, make sure the color is not going to bleed.  I have a red blouse that I have to wash separately because the color runs, even after repeated washings.

  3. I agree with Ash, and I would add that I do not wash my kitchen towels with my bath towels.  That just does not seem sanitary to me.

  4. put the cloths in to a pile by color ...1 blue, black ,purple

then put them in the washer, use the cup that came with the laundry soap and read the direction and fill it up to the line it tells you , turn the water on warm/cold and wash for the longest cycle

    1) orange,red,pink

    2) green,tan,brown, yellow

    3) WHITES ONLY

    4) Towels

  5. For the most part, I do laundry the way guys do it... cram everything into the washer together (except towels) pour in a capful of liquid laundry detergent , wash warm/rinse cold, dry everything except jeans, which I hang...

my work clothes I have drycleaned....

    don't wear underwear..

that leaves jeans, tshirts, and socks.....

  6. I wash everything in cold water and mild detergent. Preserves colors and saves energy.

  7. Laundry is the ONLY household chore I actually enjoy doing.

I usually have only small loads to do because I keep up with my laundry really well. I separate colors and whites. And then other loads would be bedding/blankets, and towels is a separate one on their own.

With a typical load of say colored clothes, t-shirts and jeans I:

Turn the washer on usually a regular cycle if not a lesser cycle, my clothes are hardly ever dirty so anything stronger is really not needed. Cold water is all I use unless there is a specific reason to use warm. I put the detergent in (Tide with touch of Downy April Fresh scent) and let it suds up for a few seconds. Add my clothes, it does it's thing. Once it hits the final spin I go in to add April Fresh Downy (I prefer adding it manually like this. My washer has a fabric softener dispenser but it tends to gunk up in there so I don't use it that often anymore, I could use the Downy ball but I've had it stain my clothes so I don't use it if I really don't need to) which is my favorite laundry product. :o)

I haven't been using the dryer too much lately because it's nice and summery outside and I LOVE the smell of clothes dried outside when they have Downy on them.. so I'll usually hang t-shirts/tanks, shorts, dresses/skirts, and jammies up outside. But I use the dryer still on towels, underwear/socks, and bedding. In the dryer I use one or two April Fresh Downy dryer sheets, they smell amazing!

After this alls that left to do if they're in the dryer is folding and putting them away, if I've hung them on hangers outside on my balcony.. alls I have to do is put them away in my closet.

There's my laundry regimen. Like I said I really find doing laundry fun lol. But I think that's mostly because fresh clean clothes, and Downy is my favorite scent in the world. But whatever.. most people hate doing laundry so whatever makes me want to do it all the time I'm thankful for haha. :o)

  8. I sort my loads into 4 simple piles... whites, colors, jeans, and bed linens/towels. I wash EVERYTHING in cold water (because stuff tends to shrink if I use any other tempature... I have no idea why... it just does) I use a Free and Clear liquid detergent and a lightly scented liquid fabric softener. I wash Jeans and whites on the whites cycle and colors and linens on the colors cycle. Then I dry everything in the dryer (except for our shirts... because once again there seems to be shrinkage) Our shirts I hand dry on hangers.

    God Bless!

  9. Gosh, I never really had a chance to put this in list form. :)

-- Sort into three groups: whites, light or bright colors and darks.

-- As I place them into the washer I inspect for any hidden stains (and treat them accordingly.)

-- Put the clothes in the washer, by group, using a powder and oxygen bleach for whites, and a liquid detergent for any colors.

-- Hit the button for the appropriate cycle (usually cold or a warm cycle).

-- Remove them pretty quickly after the washing's done and separate for hang dry or the dryer, inspecting first for any lingering stains.

-- Place in the dryer until just barely damp so as not to shrink fibers.  Those on the drying rack stay until completely dry.

-- Remove the items and sort for hanging, folding or ironing.

This is for the "typical" load, excluding anything that requires hand washing or washed by itself.
