  1. www.threadbanger.com or www.enderbynest.com

They have an excellent video on how to organize and store items in your 'cool' closet. check it out!

I put my bags on the top shelf and on the k***s of the closets{very neatly}  I only use natural wooden hangers. It's a nice look and better for your clothes.{dresses, shirts, skirts and suits}. I fold all my jeans and t-shirts neatly and display them flat on a shelf.{it's fun like a store presentation} All my boots, heals and flats are stored at the bottom on the floor{no need for shoe racks-I just do not like them} and I have over 40 pairs of shoes. Urban Outfitters jewelry collection holders for necklaces and earrings are too cute and useful. Also, I store my tights and socks in a storage ottoman in front of my closet door for easy 'sitting' access when getting dress. OK, go check those sites out!

  2. Yes, donating unnecessary possessions is very helpful. But the rest of my closet has been organized by placing IKEA dressers, which have very clean and simple lines, inside. Plastic drawer bins from Target also are good and even less expensive for having drawer space. In addition, converting bookshelves into shelving for garments works well. Since it's awkward, if not impossible, to peek into drawers when they are above eye level, Put the drawer cabinets (dressers) on the bottom, and the shelving on top of the dressers.

  3. 1) De-junk everything. Pull it all out of the closet/storage and GET RID OF anything you don't use, need, want or love. Weed everything out before you do or plan anything!

    2) Put like things together. A classic organizing tip and very effective. Shirts with shirts, pants with pants, shoes with shoes, etc.

    3) Try it all on. If it doesn't fit, it goes. You can allow a few sentimental items but not too many if you have space issues.

    4) Make sure you have the right hangers for everything and it helps if they are the same shape and size. Avoid wire hangers, they make a mess!

    5) Take inventory of how much you have and figure out how much space you need.

    6) Check out places like Ikea, Target, Wal-Mart or whatever store is in your area. Many places have closet extender things, extra poles, bins, hanging drawers, shoe racks, etc.

    7) Store things you don't use often. Out of season clothing can be rolled up to save space. Rolling clothing into a tube shape takes up much less space than folding. Try it!

    8) Laundry...Ugh. Who doesn't hate it? If this is a problem, make sure you stay on top of it. I found the folding laundry hamper to be about the only way to save space here. And these only save space when they're empty unfortunately!

Once you weed everything out and you know how much you have, organizing will be a lot easier. It also helps to look at photos of closets that look similar to yours. Copy the idea with cheaper stuff. With a little money, some time and probably a lot of effort, you can conquer the closet and have one that looks like a picture! Best of luck!

  4. i donate everything i don't need -most of us are drowning in excess.  this makes cleaning up easier.  use storage boxes & shelving.

  5. I usually completely empty it out so that I am forced to look at everything that is currently in it. Then I separate what I want to keep from what I could do without. Then I put everything back away categorizing it as I move along.
