  1. i normally catch creatures and release them without hurting them, eg, if theres a danny long legs spider in the shower, i will get a cup and catch it and release it outside on a tree.  you could probably catch them and move them away, like into some other tree like someone else lol.  you could also look up the bug ans see what they dislike and and do that to the tree  so they keep away. for example if they didn't like garlic for some reason, hang garlic on the tree.  it sounds kind of stupid but it might work

  2. Well you could try vinegar or lemon  and just  spray the tree and see how you go and let me known

  3. They do sound pretty gross

Bag a couple & take them to a real garden center, NOT home depot or wal-mart.

Ask for something to spray them with now & for a good systemic pesticide that will protect it for the future.

  4. I thought you gave a good description, I knew what you meant straight away because they love your Cedar tree (Melia azedarach).

They are called White Cedar moths.  Hairs on them can cause skin irritation.  They gather at the base of the tree during the day and progress up the tree to eat the leaves at night.

Checked my bug book and this is the result.

Organic control -  Tie a piece of hessian or a sack around the trunk this will give the larvae a place to gather during the day.  Lift band and destroy the larvae each day.  (I suppose you could use a grub spray from a can if you didn't want to kill them manually).   This is apparently very successful.

Chemical control - Spray the trunk and lower leaves with maldison.

With a bit of luck you should be able to solve your problem.

My father did a bit of spraying and hasn't had a problem for years so you must break the cycle so worth the effort.

  5. Seven dust. It is safe enough to use on veggies or fruits because it washes off with water. You will have to re-apply when it rains. OR you could let that one loser hug them to death!

  6. I would not know

  7. YOU DID NOT GIVE A GOOD DESCRIPTION.

A hairy creature could be my EX Husband.

But I think you might be talking about a caterpillar?

If it is a type of grub or Caterpillar then any product with a chemical called SPINOSAID in it will quickly put a stop to the creatures.

How ever to make sure that you have the right poison for the right creature.

Catch one or two, preserve them in Alcohol and ship them to the local Aggi. field station. Usually connected to a local state University.

But if it is fuzzy, caterpillar looking, than a Spinosaid based chemical it the way to go.

Truly, check your insect. Using the wrong pesticide is like trying to treat the FLUE with Blood Pressure Medicine...It just won't work!
