How do a commerical truck driver get his CDL back?

I have known many commercial truck drivers getting a DUI and having their license taken away but never inquired about how they could get them back cause the subject is to painful. Now my boyfriend has experienced the same situation! How can a person that got a DUI in his personal vechiel get his CDL's back to start back working?

  1. the real prob is not one company will hire him with past dui .for 3 to 5 years ,some never.Their insurance companies wont allow it.   He might find a job with some bootleg out fit. So getting lic. back wont help for driving job..If you have cdl cant drink and drive period.  new line of work advised .. good luck ,,, im a driver 13 years

    I am sorry about your situation,but depending on how long he has had his dui,and if this is the only violation he has,it could be 6months to three years,My best advice is to get a lawyer and let him fight for you,If money is a problem try to qualify for legal aid assistance.  

  3. most judges put a time limit on a suspension, 6 months, a year or more.  he'll have to wait for that time period to expire before his license can be renewed.

    call the department of motor vehicles to see if they can give you an answer.

    darlin'    dui is dui regardless of the vehicle you were driving when caught.
