  1. Cells can be different or of the same functions and appearance in the same tissue. It depends actually on what tissue you are referring to.

    Epithelial tissues, those found in the membranes of organs and other parts of the body have different specializations of cell. Keratinized cells contain keratin that proved barrier/protection, Ciliated cells can also be found in epithelial tissues that help filter foreigh bodies.

    Smooth muscle tissue contain muscle cells of the same functions and appearance.
