  1. It depends on the artist and the time period.

    Rich colours, thick paint, and images that might symbolise excess, such as gold, overripe fruit, etc.

    A really good study in an artist satirizing the excess of the wealthy is William Hogarth's six-part series, Marriage A-la-Mode. You can see it on the National Gallery of London's website (see sources). It is over the top with references to the extreme indulgence of the upper-class at that time.

  2. In scuptures, many artists portray this in humans by a plump person laying on their side eating something. It can also be portrayed by certain colors, items of luxury. It really depends on what kind of artwork it is and what it is of.
