  1. They use books about astrology. You can find some at any big bookstore, but they aren't the same ones used in astrology schools. There's controversy about many things in astrology. Two books will say different things about anything in the subject. A good example is that many layman's books say that Sun signs of the same element are most compatible, but the books from astrology school say that Sun signs mean nothing in that area.

  2. Its just a prediction. It ain't sure to happen so each astrologer might tell you something different....

  3. You need to make sure you have an accurate birth chart first with the correct hour & place of birth.  My mother used to use an ephemeris (tells where the planets are, were, & will be). Using the ephermeris & the birth chart together she would make some predictions of what could possibly happen in the future... or tell someone what happened to them in their past.

  4. There's a large corpus of texts that have been salvaged during

archaeological excavations and (in some cases) eventually translated

    into English and other languages.

Other information was published in ancient times and re-published

under different authors (in different ways) throughout the ages.

There's always someone knowledgeable that's willing to teach those

    younger or inexperenced.

Insofar as Prediction goes...that normally involves having memorized

a massive quantity of information and being able to recall and relate

it to the client.  One is always "going out on a limb" when making

a Prediction of any sort.  As they normally involve probabilities of

outcomes which can vary a bit from individual to individual who might

have the same aspect or planetary placement (by House and Sign)

as those originally described in the texts.

  5. the stars

  6. By drawing up an astrological chart, involving location and such, and seeing what planetary transits and aspects are occurring.

Often the crappy paragraph you read in the newspaper under your horoscope is the sun sign alone. Drawing up a chart for an individual person gives insight into planets, houses, signs etc that affect them personally. That's usually done using knowledge from books, or computer programs which calculate correctly. I do it for myself and others. I'm personally not too keen on astrological "predictions", but rather I find astrology to be a good tool in understanding a person's nature. I can draw one up for you if you like?

  7. Mostly from their clients. They pay attention when their customer says anything and also look carefully at the way they're dressed and their mannerisms.

They give no or only a few bad predictions. Mainly they tell them what they want to hear. If they get a clue of a specific item the sucker wants to know about, they make sure they pay extra for it.

  8. Hello

Astrology requires the persons time & date of birth, which is supplied by the person wanting the chart drawn.

    Sadhara

  9. Oh, very easy. I'll teach you.

    1) close your eyes

    2) think of something

    3) write down it, whatever it is

There you go, it's a prediction. Now, if you tell your friend she will have problems at work, and she, for example, spills cofee on her computer, she will remember it and think you actually predicted it. But then, don't these petty annoyances happen every day?

You can't really predict anything because human creature is free in his choices and is not limited by 'fate' or 'prediction'.

  10. My room mate's boyfriend is a trained astrologer. He has some books he uses. He bought them at his school. He has done horoscopes for many people, including my room mate and her friends. The book that tells the meanings of all of the indications is called "Llewelleyn's Delineator". To find the Ascendant and positions of the twelve houses, he uses a "Table of Houses" book. To find the positions of all the planets, he uses an ephemeris for the year a person was born. He has many of them for the whole 20th century and much of the 21st Century.
