  2. By a p[rocess known as spectroscopy.Light is sent through a spectroscope,the spectral lines indicating different chemicals are identified.

    Helium was found in sun before it was detected on earth.

  3. by splitting the light into a spectrum & calculate it's ratio to determine what these represents in terms of chemical/mineral transmission.

  4. By passing the light through a prism (or diffraction grating) to split it into the different colors that all light is made of. Each element has a different set of colors associated with it.
