  1. This is what I was told by a nurse.

Part of it is that they appear bow legged becuase their calf muscles haven't fully developed yet (because they haven't been using them).  Feel your calf and the baby's.  On you, you should feel muscle.  On the baby, you will probably feel more bone.  As the baby develops, the muscles grow and fill the calf better.

Another aspect is that the baby was in a very small space for a long time.  It causes the bones to develop that way.  The bones are still somewhat soft and will straighten.

  2. It's usually known as stiff legged

It means the baby is not relaxed..

  3. they grow up

  4. its bow legged meaning like his legs wrap around in a semi or circle like sitting on a horse. its becuz it puts pressure on their leg joints that arent strong enuff to hold them yet. thus forcing them to bend or bow

  5. BOW legged

  6. The word is "bowed legged" and babies are usually that way until they build up the strength in their legs for walking.

  7. what makes people bow-legged is wearing shoes that are too small for them while they are still growing

  8. wasnt sure what that meant but now i know, it can happen because the babies muscles havent developed properly and are not strong enough handle standing up right

  9. if he has bolts for legs i would take him to a machinist or carpenter.

  13. What on earth is bolt legged? That sounds like some old wives tale to me...babies like being held like that...they can wriggle and have a look about.

  14. All babies are bow-legged to some degree until they start walking.  Medically concerning bow-leggedness is caused by rickets and a couple of other diseases, it has nothing to do with letting a baby stand up.

  15. The term is bow-legged and many children have that starting out. See your doctor if you are concerned.

  16. It is bad to keep on doing that to a young baby also when the baby gets older and you hold him to much on your waist that could cause him to go bolt legged to adn make sure when he starts walking that you by him walking shoes

  19. You can't make a baby bowed legged, It happens during growth before the baby is born.

  20. I'm not a doctor or an expert, but I did take a nutrition class in college, and from what I know, it has something to do with a Vitamin D deficiency (lack of Vitamin D) or he may have been born that way because his legs were folded in the uterus and should eventually straighten out.

I'm sure you can always speak with your child's physician to make sure everything is okay. Like I said, I'm not a physician, nor do I have a degree in health/medicine but just my opinion. It would be best to always speak with a doctor ;)

  21. I have heard the same thing...many times.  I honastly think that it only happens to babies that ride horses

  22. Do you mean bow-legged perhaps?  Google is your friend.
