How do bacteria and plant cell able to withstand hypotonic media without bursting?

  1. They have a rigid cell wall that prevents the cell membrane from expanding beyond it. Hence the cell membrane does not burst.


  2. Bacteria and plant cells (If they are hypertonic) con't survive in hypotonic media.If we place the hypertonic bacteria or plant cell in hypotonic solution,they will burest and die.


  3. plant cell have cell wall that gives shape and support to cell....as water enters inside the cell, the cell become turgid and cell wall prevent the cell from bursting.......
