  1. They put all their stuff on a plane.

  2. It depends on the band. Some go commercially, some go on private jets. They can easily transport their personal instruments and smaller equipment using "road cases" for protection, but all the larger equipment is almost always rented once they arrive at their destination. It is simply not practical to ship a grand piano overseas, for instance.

  3. depends on where the show is?

Most bands major bands use private charters to fly equipment, or place is on Heavy weight airfreight for international venues.

There is a few logistics companies that specialise in moving sound equipment.. check out rock-it cargo..

  4. just put all the stuff on a plane, it's not a problem, you have to use roadcases and that's it.

only the most popular bands use private jets because it's a lot of money but yes it's faster, comfier to get on/off plane and so on, if you have money- do it! sometimes also really small bands use private jets for shorter or longer hauls when they gotta get somewhere faster than an average airline can go due to timetable differences or something.

and cargo charters are used mostly if there is one specific gig planned or there are considerable amounts of gear along on a tour. otherwise it's too hard to organize all the stuff between two planes so it can get pretty nightmarish if you use air transport all the time. on mainland when you hit the road, some bands send the technique along with roadies by bus when musicians go by plane separately and sleep in hotels. but in my opinion, it's sometimes unnecessary to waste money and booking agents energy like that

  5. Normally the gear would be flown out and a carne issued with all the different items numbered, this would then go to a warehouse type of place awaiting transportation to a on a cargo plane and then dropped off on the other side in a similar situation.

Going to Europe is normally done by sea and road with the gear arriving at the venue, before the band, naturally how earlier than the band depends on the size of the band really.
