Question:

How do become an American student?

I am in the UK and about to study Chemistry,Biology or Molecular Medicine (Degree level). I contacted several American Medical schools and they all said they require there students to study there Pre-Med courses in the US.

My plan is to do the first year of Uni (as a back-up) and at the same time apply to the states with my A-Level Results for Chemistry or Biology over there for the following year.

Would that work?

  1. Why would you want to do that? You'll spend twice as long doing medicine in the US than in the UK. I think the Pre-Med course alone is about four years. This is the process to become a doctor in the US: Pre-medical

    Med school

    Sub-internship

    Internship

    Residency

    Fellowship

    Board certification

    Licensure

    Continuing medical education

Seems like a lot of hassle to do all that in the US when you could do it in less time in the UK.
