  1. its racist

  2. well obviously they only expect us to be good at sports i always say in student athlete the student comes first so i mean you just gotta prove people wrong. i know im good at sports but that doesnt mean im not smart i have all honors classes and im getting good grades i mean i dont care what no one says im going to college on an academic scholarship. i also realized that they make the grade point avereage to play sports a 2.0 that's not good but our coach raised it up to a 3.0 in order to challenge us i think that was a good idea

  3. What up Wow,

i think it differs from individuals.  Academic standards are the same regardless of race... but i know that in some inner city settings it's a mindset.  i tutored at an inner city school in L.A. when i was a student at UCLA and it was neat to see some of the kids be the first kids to graduate from their families.  i found that kids are kids and they need encouragement and good role models behind them-- i know some of the kids in my class started to think about and even applied for college- something they hadn't thought about until the tutors encouraged them and even helped them with the process.  Attending their graduation was one of the brightest days of my life...

i think it all depends on the family and environment around them.
