  1. Haha, as to what blind person would say that, I would xD I walk into walls /all/ the time, and doors... and windows, and various other objects.

Anyways, there are a lot of different screen reading programs that you can load onto ordinary ever-day computers.(two of the most popular are called JAWS and WindowEyes) Personally, I use JAWS. For people with low vision, and can still read larger print, there are magnification programs. (Most popular being: ZoomText and Magic)

There are also these lovely devices (which I am a /full/ fan of) caled refreshable braille displays. These are a little hard to explain, but essentially they are a long row of cells, standered size is 40 cell display. It shows what is on teh screen, and if you are like me and you end up wanting to throw the speech program out the window, or start yelling at it because it talks too much, then these are wonderful little devices. You can navigate the entire computer on them. Also, they make something called a BrailleNote, which is sort of a mix between a PDA and a laptop computer.

It comes in two styles, a full qwerta keyboard (or, however you spell it) or a braille-type keyboard. There is a built in braille display on it (comes in 2 sizes: 18 cell and 32 cell) You can use this for note taking in class, which is nice, because you don't need to lug around a computer ontop of everything else, and they fit nicely into a purse. Also, I loe them because you can put electronic copies of books on them, and read them in braille.

There are also VoiceNotes, which are similar to the BrailleNote, but do not come with a braille display, only a speech program. (Also, both VoiceNote and BrailleNotes can do things like, surf the web, and access e-mail via outlook)

  2. i think that whoevrs question that was about walkin into walls was lying.... what blind person would really say that!

  3. well they proubly have a special coputer that talks and tells the person what it says

  4. windows vista voice recognition

  5. blind people have special computers that can talk instead of type. so they just talk to it and it types

  6. 1.that is mean

    2.no freeking clue

  7. Computers can speak! Just fiddle with your disability settings to have everything read aloud to you. It reads highlighted text aloud and tells you which window you're in etc. They probably have more advanced software than the basics though.

  8. special computers that tell them what we write kinda like in the movie "the eye"

  9. it's not a mean question. Everyone is curious as to how one would live and cope with certain disabilities.

  10. Because they can have people with them at home to type for them
