  1. They were born with it.  Period.

  2. they were born with it.. and have trained very hard..

  3. technique helps but you have to be born with power speed footwork and other things can be learned but with power you can only cultivate whats already there

  4. i've read a couple of articles in the past from david haye and mike tyson and both of them said that a big punchers power comes from the legs and also if you watch alot of tyson and especially tommy hearns fights, u will see that they both power themselves with there legs because they kinda leap forward to hit the opponent. and also look at the size of tyson's legs! hope i helped

  5. Work ethic!

  6. Combination of power and technique, power determined either by genes, strength training, or both.  David Tua for instance can bench press 450 lbs.  Its not just a question of raw power though; pushing a punch from the ground, that is with the legs, adds to their power.  If, in a slightly crouched position, you push up with your right leg a little bit, as you twist the torso to throw a right hook, if you can get all the muscles to work together, that punch carries the power of both your muscles, as well as momentum combined with your body mass.  In other words for generating power size does make a difference but see it goes both ways; same line of thought applies for generating speed.

The simple answer to your question is that they were all born strong.  Foreman because he was big, Tyson because while he was smaller than the majority of his opponents, his build was more compact.  Tua in fact, has a similar build as Tyson, hence the reason why can hit hard as well.

Its not just how much muscle you have, but how its distributed; 200 lbs of compact muscle, are considerably more lethal than 240 lbs spread out, oh, on a 6'5 frame.  Part of the reason Marciano was so powerful, was because he stood at 5'10, and weighed 184 lbs.  Lighter than Tyson by 26 lbs, but despite being "smaller," it was a more tighly packed 184 lbs.

Let me use another analogy; it takes the same amount of metal to build a 747 jet, as it does to build an Abrams tank.  Roughly, not quite sure.  Far as sheer mass the jet is bigger, but the tank can still generate more power.  Okay let me correct the analogy; it takes more metal to make a jet than a tank, but despite the tank having less metal than the jet, because it is more tightly compacted, it generates greater power.  That is the reason that despite being "smaller," both Tyson and Marciano mowed down their opponents.

It is a combination of hard practice, as well as genes but again, it goes both ways; the same physics principles which make a boxer a harder puncher, are also the same principles that say some boxers are built for speed, and in the world of prize fighting speed holds the greater win reccord.

    peace.

  7. They are born big so they naturally have more power than other along with some training and building muscle

  8. Broad shoulders and immensely powerful upper bodies.

Also, these men have perfected the punch, it's what they do.
