Question:

How do businesses help a non-profit organization?

I am volunteering at a non-profit organization that helps women in crises. We are in need of lots of items such as tables, chairs, bookcases, etc. A member suggested contacting Lowes because she heard they donate as long as we have a non-profit tax liscense # and we do.

I logged onto lowe's site, but don't know quite what to do and whom to ask for a possible donation. How do I do this?

Also, does anyone know a business in particular other than Lowe's that would be willing to donate for a good cause? So far we've all been taking item donations from caring people in the community and doing things out of our own pocket. Thanks!

  1. Yes, alot of businesses require a non-profit number. You may also want to get some identification stating who you are in the organization. Would suggest you make a personal appeal to the manager of Lowes.  Walmart and Sams also donate. Appeal to some of the small businesses in your area, have an idea what you want.  Make lists and vehicles to pick up items( or call Uhaul and ask for a truck donation). Follow up all donations with a thank you letter, specify what you are thanking them for.  gl
