  1. Almost as quickly as manufactures of car security systems design their products, thieves learn how to disrupt or dismantle the system from cutting wires to torching the vehicle at certain locations along the vehicles body.  Some thieves even can reproduce the keys to your car without your even being aware they did, so they can simply drive off with your car; not hot-wire it.

Even the most vicious of dogs can be outsmarted or distracted.  Thieves are as good as the tools they use and there are many tools of the trade to help them do what they do.

You have to face it, the only thing security systems serve are as devices to slow down or deter thieves from stealing a car.  If they are determined to steal your car and they have the tools and network to do it, there is nothing you can do.

Systems with registered tiny GPS devices to help track your vehicle are helpful.  Many cars which are stolen can be located and many thieves have been caught this way.  GPS and motor shutdown devices are the new technologies which offer some recovery security for the future.

  2. Copy specific vehicle information and take it to the manufacturer to get a replacement key made. Instead of VIN etching the major parts of your vehicle, which doesn't turn most thieves off, drop your business card into the doors through the window slots to identify your car as yours.

Look for car alarm decals to figure out which method to use to eliminate the alarm. Never display stickers that advertise what sort of car alarm you have, or audio system for that matter. Consider using a hood lock cable so the thief can't get to your battery or car alarm mechanism.

As for the dogs just throw them a nice big steak and that will keep them busy.....

  3. Dogs where?  In the car?

Dogs can be distracted or intimidated.

Alarms can be disabled.  If the thief knows how a particular type of alarm works, it may be possible for them to prevent it going off at all, or they could disable it quickly.

Some thieves use flatbed tow trucks.  There is no effective defense against that.  (Well, a remote-activated bomb, preferably with a camera to observe when people are in or around the car, would defend against it, but you wouldn't get your car back.)

  4. for every action you take you need to know and be sure there will be a reaction and in the opposite direction
