How do civil engineers get paid?

just wondering how they are paid. is it like a set wage or does it depend on how many projects they design or ....

its either on a set salary or on a set hourly rate.

my company also has profit sharing...

Also, depending on the nature and location of your work, you could get additional "remoteness pay"  ie-if they ship you off to Dubai or the arctic circle. they'll give you extra compensation on top of your salary.

I also get some compensation if I have to drive my car to a site, per kilometer round trip from the office (some of my friends claim to increase their salary 25% if they make alot of site visits)

submitting projects and charge for the same can be done as a job work like lawyers,

they can take up construction work as contract and get the payment as a part of commission

they work with private, government agencies and get salary

any method suitable to the person.
