  1. A clicker is a marker.  The split second your dog does a specific behaviour you want, you click and treat.  The dog quickly learns that the click means he's done something right.  You have to have the timing exact - within 3 seconds or it doesn't work.  Dogs learn quickly with this method because they're aware of what they're learning.
