most of the features that govern our weather, including most clouds and wind systems, occur in the troposphere. in the upper troposphere and the lower stratosphere, there are strong air currents moving at speed  of 160 kilometres an hour. these are called jet-streams which are important to pilots of jet aircraft who fly in this zone.
