I just got this Dell catalog and it has all this awesome gear like LCD monitors that are like huge, game consoles, laptops, ect? These so called "starving students" are doing it somehow. And since I'll be living at home while going to college, there must be a better chance for me too?

  2. If they do have high tech equipment it is probably from a summer job or from the parents or even graduation gifts. However, you can always just get decent equipment at a low price from Target or Wal-Mart that are name brand.

  3. Psst: I have a secret. What you see in catalogs doesn't necessarily reflect reality.

  4. if you go to dell.com there's a link for students where  you can get discounted computers and whatnots you put in your school code and you get like 20 percent off

  5. Creative financing and leasing options can work, too. Check out reputable online sources for starters. I can recommend these folks (no affil - -they've helped our family):

  6. When I escorted my two granddaughters to first day of college, the campus was alive with credit cards hounds.  I would imagine all that stuff is not paid for and the students have learned how to go into debt.

  7. The starving students aren't usually the ones with LCD monitors.
