How do i connect my laptop wirelessly to my printer?

can any printer be used by a laptop to print wirelessly.. my laptop is wireless and is connected through a wireless router to the house desk top.. the printer we have is not wireless it is connected to the desk top via a usb cord

You would need to set up the printer to be shared.  You would have to do this on the desktop.  Right click on the printer and click sharing.  Or you could plug the printer into a print server.

Hi,

You need to setup a network and then printer sharing.

I will use windows xp as the os if you have a different os then just e-mail me and i will try to help.

On your desktop pc click;

start

my computer

in the left hand navigation click on my network places

then again in the left hand navigation click on setup a home or small office network, follow the wizard and leave everything as default.

Then go on to the laptop and repeat the steps in order to setup a network on the laptop.

Once the network is setup then restart both pc's then we need to share the printer.

Now on the desktop pc with the printer attached. Click;

Start

printers and faxes

then in the printers folder right click the printer and click on sharing, give it a name and click ok

Now the printer is shared on the network and so you need to connect to it by going on the laptop and click;

start

my network places

then in the left hand navigation click on view network computers

then it will give you a list of the pcs on your network

double click on the pcs name

then it will show the printer, to connect to printer then right click it and click connect. When prompted click ok and then the printer will be installed.
