The United States has a welfare system that is funded by the USDA. The USDA funds the Food Stamp programs that vary from state to state. The rules or laws of eligibility also vary. Cash Assistance varies as well, I believe that it is funded on the individual state level. Medical Assistance as well is on the state level, for example in Arizona the medical program is funded by the tobacco tax. I guess my question is about benefits on the level of social security assistance. Like survivors benefits for children of deceased parents,or children who are born disabled. How are they cared for ?

  1. In Ireland we are a welfare state. The government takes care of the poor, disabled etc.

    The money comes from taxes.

You can read more about various allowances here

    http://welfare.ie/

Some payments are only for the needy, for example Illness benefit, Lone parents, Jobseekers allowance for the unemployed.

Some are given to everyone regardless of income.

For example childrens allowance. Thats a payment given to anyone who has a child regardless of income, so the poorest and the richest people get it. Its currently €160.00 a month for one child.

    Other rates are:

For Disability/ unemployed single adult €197.80 per week

Lone parent €197.80 for yourself €24.00 for child per week

    Pension €212.00 per week.

Englands system is very much like ours

  2. They take them to internment camps where they perform the tasks that the rest of society wouldn't go near.  Once they've been worked to complete exhaustion they're cooked fed to the rich as appetizers at five star restaurants.

  3. Ask the Magdelene sisters.

  4. Other countries are very socialised.

They have the government take control of existing working charities.

  5. In Australia the Federal goverment gives a pension to the unemployed, aged, disabled, single parents and others with low incomes. Quality education and health care are provided free to all Australians. State governments have a number of other programs such as housing assistance, employment assistance etc. Minimum wages are about $15 for adults. We have much less poverty here thankfully.
