  3. Like a wind mill that uses Wind power,...Water can also be used as an alternative power sourse to crush corn in a Grain Mill.

  6. they don't

  7. Irrigation

    water storage for use later

    reduced flooding

storage for stock water and increased pasture utilization

    hydroelectric power

water power for old time mills

    processing water for agriculture refining

    etc.

  8. In aquaculture under agriculture, dams are one of the bodies of water wherein fish can live on it. Fish can be cultured such as Freshwater Hybrid tilapia, freshwater carp, freshwater shrimp, etc.

Other reason is that it used for irrigating farms especially the rice fields and other farm products.

  9. Dams store water used for irrigation and can generate a clean form of electricity used by agriculture industries.

  10. Dams not only have benefits for agricultural industries but for the population as a whole.  Just like wind power, power generated by hydro-electric dams provide CLEAN power for which to turn the lights on with.  IF hydro or wind power was better utilized there would be no smoke from coal fired plants and no spent Nuclear waste to find a place to store it, water and wind power is sorely underutilized.

As far as water behind the dams goes, Agricultural usage is but a small percentage (15%) of what the water is used for.  Agricultural usage is for irrigation water of crops and water for animals to drink.  Although most of the water for the animals to drink is from drilled wells and not from water that has been stored behind dams.

Not only can water dams generate  electricity but they also supply water for many cities and towns.  Then there is recreation purposes, boating, fishing, and swimming just to name a few. Dams are also used for flood control of waters that used to flood towns and cities.

I live in a state where there are several dams that are used for many purposes and not just agriculture exclusively.
