I am 41 by boyfriend is 40, we are both recently divorced. His mother is really controlling, but I really like her, I need help dealing with her controlling ways with him.

He has 2 sons one is 3 and the other is 7. He spends a lot of time with his mother, spending the night at her house, she spends the night ast his house, no big deal.... as they are close, closeness is a good thing.

She just spent the night with him on Tuesday night, just showed up at his house and spent the night, He is spending the day (today, Friday) with her and his boys, then after that we had plans with the kids (my daughter included) for the rest of the weekend (Friday night and Saturday), His mother calls him last night and tells him that she is coming over to spend the night with him and his boys at his house tonight. UGH!!!

I NEVER want to come between 2 family members, that is not my style and remember I like this woman, But when is enough enough and how do I deal with this.

We are canceling plans again for her controling ways and it is getting old.

We have been dating for 1 year now and are getting really, really serious, we are even talking marriage.

He is a really nice guy and doesn't want to hurt her feelings, and is really sheepish when we have to change plans because her, he hates to tell me yet again, she is coming over.

Please help.

  1. RUN like h**l!! My ex was a mama's boy and will be one for the rest of his life!! It became a huge problem which is what caused us to split.

  2. If he hasn't stood up to his mother by now, it's doubtful that he will.  Staying the night at each others house is not normal.  Try talking to him about it, but the outcome doesn't look overly good for this relationship.

  3. You're not an idiot. You know that things are only going to become worse as time goes by. Its always going to be sinister as long as his mother is sleeping over. Its like a bad movie. You can write it!!

You'll be there with them all, if you marry or move in with him. Run away now. Or stay, and write the story.
