  1. I think that is just for type 1 diabetics.

I don't know anyone who has type 2 and where's an insulin pump.

  2. My son is on the Omni Pod pump.  It is wonderful!  There is no connection between the pod he wears on his stomach that is completely water proof (so he can swim, shower, etc..) and does not have to do anything when he engages in water activities.  His PGM (which is about the size of a cell phone and he can wear it on his pant pocket or carry it in his pocket) is used by sending radio waves to the pod.  It will continuously give his basal insulin every hour even if he is away from the PGM.  When he eats he puts in his bolus and during this time he has to be close to his PGM.  You take your sugar with this unit and then put in if you are going to eat and how many carbs.  Then it calculates for you how many units of insulin you need.  Then you press confirm and it will automatically deliver the insulin and beep when it is finished.  After it is finished you do not have to have the PGM anywhere near you to get your hourly insulin which frees you up to go swimming, play football, etc.....  Like I said by it not having to be connected it is the best pump ever!

  3. My pump is not water proof so I remove it before going in water.  I test and make sure my sugar levels are good and can leave it off for about an hour with no adverse effects. Swimming and water activities usually lower sugars anyway so having it off for an hour is no big deal. Hope this Helps.
