How do dieters do it!?

I'm not overweight or anything, but i wanted to change my lifestyle to a more healthy one.

I started trying to eat healthy a couple of weeks ago and it is SO HARD to resist eating the "bad" foods! I find it impossible! Right at this moment I have a bar of chocolates that I promised myself that I would have ONE block every now and then as a treat, but I just can''t stop myself! lol! and if there was fried chicken or cake in front of me, I would go crazy at it - it's like my willpower is NON-EXISTENT!

maybe it's because i was going 100% without these foods for the first week, so now i'm craving for it even more?

  1. Trust me, it's not an easy task to avoid your favorite foods or cravings.  But in moderation, it's ok.

I just started this diet, the Flat Belly Diet, and just finished my first week of it.  It has a 4 day jump start diet plan that has you eating very little for each meal, plus lots of water.  I didn't think I could do it, but I made it through, and now I'm working on the rest of the 32 days of this diet.  I thought I would crave chocolates, ice cream, and junk food in general, but I was never hungry, and never even thought about any of that stuff.  I'm still not craving anything, although I did treat myself to a bite of chocolate after I finished the 4 day jump start.

If you want to try a diet, the Flat Belly Diet is a way to go.  It's pretty easy, no weird stuff to buy.  It's actually teaching me (forcing me) to eat healthier.  And since the meals are all geared to 400 calories each, I'm finding myself full for hours, making me not thinking about junk food.

  2. Don't keep junk in your house. I eat healthy all week, but I do find it difficult to resist eating junk if it's in my sight.

I've lost a lot of weight eating healthy over the past couple of months, and sometimes I just eat junk I can't help it, but I quickly go back to my diet. It's not a big deal if you cheat on your diet once in a while.

  3. If you don't have willpower.

    Don't buy the food.

    If you're not around

    chocolate, than maybe

    you won't eat any chocolate.

    Also, avoid kid's birthday

    parties, where the temptation

    can be too much. haha.

    Good luck!

  4. it takes discipline. some people eat whatever they want and never gain a pound while others eat healthy and cant stop gaining weight.

  5. hahaha i get what you mean. but it really takes willpower, and sometimes, you need more motivation than just 'i want to lose weight'. some people do it because their lives literally depend on it, some people do it for philosophical reasons. either way, you have to try and find a motivation that goes beyond something as abstract as 'i want to be healthy'... it has to be something you either see the direct results of, or maybe something that will eventually overpower your desire to binge out.

the fact that you've gone on for a week can definitely by why you're craving even more, you just have to have the discipline to hold out for awhile longer. soon you won't even miss those foods. i went vegan for awhile, and i promise you it was hard... now, i don't even mind when my friends pig out on mcdonalds all around me. ;)

(...though i /do/ miss ice cream and chocolate malts.... hahaha....)

  6. It is, honestly, all about your own willpower and discipline. For some people, it takes a multitude of tries before they actually get into the groove, whereas others either start on the diet right on the spot [rare] or never even begin it. Having a motivation [some guy/girl you like, weddings, or something] helps, along with the support of at least another individual, if not more [i.e family] but in the end, it is all up to YOU. If you don't have the mindset to go through with it, you won't go anywhere.

  7. The key is to be full and never be hungry. You have to fill up on fruit and veggies, salads, grapes, apples, bananas, lean meats and fish and poultry. if you are always full it is very easy resist cravings and you can make good choices on what to eat.
