  1. Well, it can start with the invite. Find a unique way to word the ceremony.  For example, "Elizabeth Doe and Joshua Jones along with their son Joe request your presence at a wedding ceremony that will join them as a family."

It might be a nice touch to include something in the ceremony that binds you as a family. For example, after you do the "do you promise to...." and you both say "I do" the officiant could add a little part about "do you both promise to nurture and provide for your family that has been unified today?" You can have your son "put" the rings on each others fingers or you could get a little ring to put on his.  Just be creative and include him when you can.

  2. i had a friend who had his 10 month old son be his best man. the maid of honor walked down the aisle holding him in her arms so that was pretty cute. thats all i have. sorry :(

  3. As a wedding minister/coordinator i have a book I offer my brides called "the ultimate wedding & ceremony workbook for the planning impaired" and it has some ideas for incorporating the family.   If you send me your email address privately, I can upload and send you some ideas I've found.

  4. Isn't the entire "theme" of a wedding to unite a couple as one?

The fact that you have a child outside of marriage really isn't part of a wedding theme?

The entire concept of marriage is joining two people.  (regardless of if you have children or not)

    Just focus on your marriage.

  5. You can have him be walked down the aisle as a ring bearer with a flowergirl.

As centerpieces, put pictures of your whole family and little notecard thanking the guests for sharing the day with your family.

You can also make the invitations really cute by saying something like "your son's name" requests the honor of your presence to see his parents "xyz" and "abc" wed on....

Basically make it really cute as if he's the host of your wedding :)

    All the best

  6. Generally when you speak of uniting a family it's because you're joining two separate sets of children together in one family...but since the child is both yours and your fiance, you really don't need to mention it!  Although, I think it's a wonderful idea to have your minister or pastor mention something to the effect that "son" parents are joining together in marriage to make a full family for "son".  Best of Luck

  7. The "theme" of your wedding generally refers to decorations. Those won't be important if you place an emphasis on the uniting of a family.

Try small things like the wording of your invitations to give guests the feel of your day.

  8. My friend had a part in the ceremony where they each gave one of their children a necklace or a token and talked about being a family. Or you can have both of your boys walk you down the aisle.

    Good Luck

  9. I would put that on the front of my invitations and use it throughout the wedding. In the ceremony you could use poems or words about how important family is. Your son obviously will be old enough to participate in the wedding, so allow him to. You could also create a logo of some kind using your names or initials to tie it in that the three of you are uniting.

  10. Many girls under 16 are included in weddings as "junior brides." Why not have him be a "junior groom"? Your son will most likely be walking by then. He could easily stand up at the altar with his daddy, holding the rings.

And here's something else you could try for favors. Get netting in your wedding colors, and mix jordan almonds with candy baby bottles inside, then tie it up with ribbon and add both a baby and a wedding ring charm. You can find it all at a store like Michaels.

  11. I don't know how to to answer.
