Question:

How do doctors screen/test for UTI's?

What do they do? a blood test? Im curious, cause one of my girlfriends is telling horror stories, if you get my drift, and I would like to know.

  1. Yep... you get to pee in the ole paper cup. Usually they can tell you the results right then and there, no lab required. Try drinking cranberry juice to help ease it a bit while waiting to see your dr. If it is a uti then he'll give you some anti-botics to take for 10 days and that's that.


  2. For a UTI?  No you pee in a cup.  They send it to the lab, and presto!  It'll tell if you have a uti

I had a uti a few years back, and I took the azo tablets over the counter and the pain frequent peeing went away and I thought everything was okay, but the infection moved to my kidneys, and I began vomiting, and took myself to the ER and all they did was inject me in the buttox with some type of medicine and the shot hurt like h**l, but in an hour or two I felt much better.  Well that was my experience, hope it helps.
